3rd hole and Cardinal bunker

This classic links hole is just the best risk and reward par 5. With Pow burn crowding any desire to keep right off the tee, or attack the green for two, temptation, reward and failure are evident in equal measure. Given fair wind and a well struck shot, Cardinal bunker is reachable from the tee. Notice the extreme humps and hollows on the final 100 yards of fairway before the relative calm of the small, red-flagged 3rd green.
