The left side of the undulating 3rd fairway is shared with 16th, so there is plenty of room. The right side of the fairway, once again, holds dangers but offers the better route to the green. For 90% of players the bottom on the flag and green are blind for the second shot, a common feature on The Old Course, but the hint of Cartgate bunker, hugging the left edge of the green, is not.
